BACKGROUNDIn 1987 the explosives industry expressed a need for an organisation to further its interests. On 28 March 1988 NIXT was founded and a Management Committee and a number of subcommittees elected. These committees addressed matters related to symposia, research and technical aspects, legislation, safety, environment and health, manufacture, users, training and other matters. A special subcommittee catered for the interests of industries situated in the Western Cape. As outlined in the Prospectus, the structure was simplified since then. The various sub-committees has since then been replaced by a single action committee, known as the Advisory Forum. |
